Brunch was good! Had a lot of options that can make everyone happy. The only down fall is there is hardly any fruit. How can you have a brunch with no fruit?

You know, I so rarely leave bad reviews for a resturant but this one has disappointed me both times I've come here. Here's the deal. I often eat alone. I enjoy going out and savoring a meal.
I made a reservation last night for a table for one. When I get here I am told it's actually for bar seating. Mind you, there are tons of tables open for seating and I have a reservation. I explain that I want a table and they say sorry, we are full. I shouldn't have to explain that my legs go numb when sitting on a bar stool because of the fractures in my back.
If this was an isolated incident I wouldn't be super concerned. However, the last time I came for for a 5pm reservation during the week - the entire restaurant was empty. I was told the same thing by the same hostess. I insisted and thankfully I was seated at a table.
It took an entire year for me to try this place again.
So I'm sitting here enjoying my $35 brunch with a bitter taste in my mouth. I shouldn't be relegated to a bar stool for eating alone. I shouldn't have to explain why the bar doesn't work for me to get seated at the table I reserved to eat a meal I am paying for.
On the bright side, my server Carter is kind and very helpful. My water glass is full and I'm content. -

I stayed in the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee as I missed a connecting flight due to an adverse weather condition. It was a mattress factory in the the past , which was converted to a hotel with contemporary decoration. Being late at night to check in and tired, I decided to have a quick dinner there. The restaurant was also contemporary look , food with $$$ price range. It has a relatively short menu. I decided to have arugula salad with beets. The salad was refreshing. The chicken was big for me with crispy skin. Even after discarding the skin, I was unable to clean the plate. It was well done but with a bland taste. I did not have any room for dessert. The noise level was average. Relatively fast service. Not a bad place to have a reasonable meal.

I'll have to admit, Smyth is a place that I forget too often-- not always, as I've recommended it to friends, I've had a few meals here, and the brunch, but I still don't remember it enough!
Not to mention for a "Hotel" restaurant, which are subpar 8.5 times out of 10, it's anything but subpar.
Smyth is not inexpensive, but also not overly costly for what you'll get. Great value doesn't mean "cheap", it means "Is it worth the money you'll pay"?
Between Smyth, The Yard (outdoor bar/restaurant patio), and Branded (indoor bar) the Iron Horse Hotel is top notch. It's really a five-star experience.
Bravo!
The angnolotti really blew my mind, jam packed with flavor, perfectly al dente. -

Checked out the Great Northern Brunch with some girlfriends yesterday!
For $33, we helped ourselves to an impressive buffet that included coffee, tea, and mimosas, as well as a selection of creative entrees from a set menu. Some of the standout offerings on the buffet included lemon ricotta crepes, housed smoked salmon, their version of cheesy potatoes, as well as chef-carved ham, prime rib, and an omelette station. On the entree side, the braised beef and grits were pretty great. Apparently the entrees change with the seasons, which is all the more reason to stop by regularly.
There were a few service issues (25 minute wait for an omelet, server clearing silverware indiscriminately even though it's a buffet), so admittedly I wasn't blown away. But the high quality food and beautiful atmosphere made up for most of these issues, and I will more than likely be back!
